Bellingham author releases second in a series of e-books | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A Bellingham author is preparing to release his second e-book, and the date couldn’t be more appropriate.
Author R.L. Pace’s second installment of the Rising Son trilogy, also called Rising Son, follows the fictional situation of a WWII-era Japanese spy—the sole survivor of an experimental Japanese submarine sunk during reconnaissance missions in the Puget Sound.
With a Nov. 21 release, the e-book will be available on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 1941.
The trilogy explores the “what if?” of the events leading up to the U.S.’s entry into the world war, such as “Could Ulysses S. Grant have unwittingly caused the Dec. 7 1941 bombing of Hawaii?”
The second novel follows American-born Arimoto Akagi, who finds himself marooned and alone after the submarine accident. He is taken in and rescued by a Bainbridge Island family, whose story is told in the first installment of the series.
Akagi falls in love with the granddaughter of the family patriarch, and has to reconcile his feelings for her, while still weighing his loyalties to his country. All while being tracked down by U.S. authorities for his involvement with the spy mission.
Pace, the author, said the electronic format of the novel has made it so that not only are the novels cheaper and more available for readers, but also can be produced faster, without the need of an agent to find a traditional publisher.
The novel will be available for both Nook and Kindle readers, and can be purchased for $3.99 online at Amazon.com, BN.com, and smashwords.com.
